The 5th annual “Happy Chinese New Year, Charming Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei” celebration will be held in Beverly Hills, California, on Jan. 25-26, 2019, organizers announced at a press conference in Beijing on Nov. 5.
Beijing has held the celebration three times in the past, which has become one of the most popular Chinese New Year celebrations in Southern California. Tianjin and Hebei province have joined Beijing to present performances at the event starting earlier this year.
Julie Wagner, CEO of Beverly Hills Conference and Visitors Bureau said that the annual event is helpful to introduce traditional Chinese culture to the U.S., as well as to promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
The fifth annual celebration event will feature various performance, including Peking Opera, folk dance, acrobatic performances and martial arts. Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei province will also present their local intangible cultural heritage, such as paper cutting and New Year pictures.
The annual event will be co-hosted by the Beverly Hills Conference and Visitors Bureau and the association for cultural exchanges in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province.
Apart from the performances, the two-day event will also include a photo exhibition themed “Charming Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei.”
