The 16+1 cooperation, a cross-regional platform jointly built by China and 16 Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries, is becoming a cooperation highland for the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
The 16+1 cooperation mechanism, viewed by China as an important part of and useful supplement to the China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership, was inaugurated in Warsaw in April 2012.
All CEE countries are important partners for building the Belt and Road, according to Zhang Haizhou, the Chinese Ambassador to Bulgaria.
As time passes, the 16+1 cooperation grows deeper and wider. Strengthened political mutual trust, fruitful cooperative achievements and new development opportunities have been seen among these 17 countries.
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang will pay an official visit to Bulgaria and Germany from July 5 to 10. During the stay in Bulgaria, Li will attend the Seventh Summit of Heads of Government of China and Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) in Sofia.
Here is a quick look at this cooperation mechanism.
