Targeted poverty alleviation brings prosperity to Shibadong

Around China

Tucked away in the remote mountains of western Hunan province, Shibadong is a pristine village mostly inhabited by the Miao people. In 2013, over half of the population lived below the poverty line. Thanks to targeted poverty alleviation efforts, the small village has seen transformative changes: Rural environment and infrastructure have improved, local businesses are thriving, and people's income continues to increase. The village ridded itself of poverty in 2017.
