Beijing has been ranked first in a Chinese city's business environment evaluation published on June 18.
Compiled by China Media Group, the 2019 annual business environment report evaluated 36 Chinese cities, including four municipalities, 27 provincial-level capital cities, and five other large cities on indicators like infrastructures, human resources, financial service, governance environment, and innovation.
Beijing scored 93.67 in the comprehensive evaluations, followed by Shanghai (89.57), Shenzhen (85.13), Guangzhou (84.36), and Chongqing (83.27).
The report, published in its second year, benchmarks against the World Bank Group's flagship publication "Doing Business" and other international evaluation standards.
It was the first third party authoritative business environment report published by a mainstream media organization.
The report says improving business environment plays an important role in promoting a city's high-quality development.
