China's daily number of newly cured and discharged novel coronavirus patients has surpassed that of new infections for the eighth consecutive day, the National Health Commission said Wednesday.

China's daily number of newly cured and discharged novel coronavirus patients has surpassed that of new infections for the eighth consecutive day, the National Health Commission said Wednesday.

Tuesday saw 2,422 people on the mainland walk out of hospital after recovery, much higher than the new confirmed infections, which was 406, figures from the commission showed.

A total of 29,745 patients infected with the novel coronavirus had been discharged from hospital by the end of Tuesday, according to the commission.

Tuesday marked the seventh consecutive day that daily number of new infections on the mainland remained under 1,000.

The newly recovered coronavirus patients in both Hubei Province and its capital city of Wuhan outnumbered new infections Tuesday, according to the figures.
