Int'l journalists experience 5G and world's largest LED screen

Foreign journalists visited China Mobile Beijing and the Xidan branch of the Capital Cinema to experience 5G technologies and see the world's largest LED movie screen on Wednesday. 

Nearly 50 journalists from 35 media outlets of 14 countries and regions joined the tour to China Mobile Beijing. They tried products utilizing 5G technologies to facilitate education, healthcare, and media practices, and many took interest in a portable 5G backpack that could make live broadcast and data transmission easier.

The journalists also learned about some of the city's work to develop smart transportation supported by 5G. Last September, the government of Beijing's Fangshan district and China Mobile built up China's first self-driving demonstration area supported by 5G and its first open test road for self-driving vehicles.

Besides experiencing 5G technologies, over 70 journalists also watched a Chinese animated movie, "Ne Zha," on the world's largest LED movie screen at the Xidan branch of the Capital Cinema. 

The cinema, with a history of 82 years, is China's first national cinema and Beijing's first cinema registering a box office of over 10 million yuan (US$1.4 million). The Xidan branch is one of its seven branches.

With 176 screens and 41 loudspeakers, the cinema complex provides moviegoers with unforgettable visual and audio experiences.

The tour is co-organized by the press center for the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the Information Office of Beijing Municipal People's Government.
