The conference invited representatives from the BBC, CNN, PR Newswire, Xinhua, China.org.cn, and other major Chinese and foreign media outlets. Media organizations from countries along the Belt and Road routes, such as South Africa, Germany, and Egypt, also participated in this year's conference, in a bid to seek new opportunities on international communication under the Belt and Road Initiative framework.

During the conference, the city will hold various events in an effort to present the traditional culture of Shaoxing to the world, including the memorial ceremony in honor of Da Yu, a folk hero said to have tamed the Yellow River and made it beneficial to farming.

In recent years, Zhejiang province has held various international conferences and events, including the G20 summit and the World Internet Conference. Provincial authorities expect this year's conference to continue raising the province's profile as a platform with international influence for media cooperation.
