In a recent announcement by the Ministry of Science and Technology, three Beijing-based institutions were named China's International Science & Technology Cooperation Bases of 2017.
All three bases were recommended by the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission. They include the Rail Vehicle Application International Cooperation Base from Beijing Jiaotong University, the International Joint Research Center for Children's Healthy Development from Beijing Children's Hospital, Capital Medical University, and the Technology Transfer and Information Service National International Science and Technology Cooperation Base from Beijing Green Word Innovative Technology Development Co., Ltd.
The International Science & Technology Cooperation Bases, identified by the Ministry of Science and Technology and its functional departments, are domestic science and technology parks, research institutes, universities, innovative enterprises and technology intermediary organizations that have made remarkable achievements in undertaking international science and technology cooperation and have the potential for further development as well as the effect of guidance and demonstration for other institutions. These bases are a collection of international innovation parks, international joint research centers, international technology transfer centers, and demonstrative international science and technology cooperation bases.
The three identified Beijing-located bases have produced outstanding results in international science and technology cooperation. The Rail Vehicle Application International Cooperation Base is a demonstration base that has cooperated with leading rail transit institutions from Europe, the United States and Japan to carry out scientific research and technical cooperation on assembly, parts design and manufacture of electric high-speed train sets, operation and maintenance of rail vehicles, and vibration and noise control. The results from these cooperations have been successfully applied to the CRH380 high-speed trains, and to the subway systems in Beijing and Guangzhou.
The International Joint Research Center for Children's Healthy Development has established good cooperative relations with children's medical institutions in many countries including the U.S., Russia and Canada. They have conducted cooperation in a variety of areas such as precision medicine, telemedicine and multicenter clinical trials.
The Technology Transfer and Information Service National International Science and Technology Cooperation Base is a technology transfer center, and it has achieved remarkable results in cooperation with institutions such as the Russian Federation's International Industrial Cooperation Center of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization on international technology transfer and establishment of technology transfer project libraries.
Relying on such international technology cooperation bases, the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission has been strengthening efforts in international science and technology innovation cooperation and technology transfer, as well as collection of global quality innovation resources in recent years. The bases aim to help strengthen Beijing's position as a global technology transfer hub and offer support to the construction of a science and technology innovation center with global influence.
