The festival, sponsored by the Ordos Tourism Development Committee and the government of Dongsheng District, will last until March 8, with events including an ice and snow naadam fair (traditional Mongolian games of wrestling, horseracing and archery), ice and snow sports as well as other snow and ice based events.

The First Ordos Ice and Snow Carnival includes two major events -- the ice and snow naadam fair and the snow games, which include horse riding and archery in snow, horse-drawn sleighs, Mongolian feasts, bonfire carnivals, colorful snowmen, figure skating, and an ice and snow theme park.

The Seventh Ice and Snow Culture Festival at the same period will also give memorable experiences to the visitors, with activities such as the snow marathon, the national calligraphy exhibition, the seminar on Belt and Road tourism, and the Jiuchenggong Cup Ice and Snow Photography Competition.

The ice and snow culture festival this year will be the seventh since 2011, and it has become one of the city's signatures for its winter tourism and a window into the city's cultural charms.
