Beijing's preparation for the 2022 Winter Olympics and the Paralympics is well underway. Currently, the overall layout of the core area for the events has been made and five venues in Zhangjiakou have all started construction, according to the Winter Olympics office of Hebei Province.

The designs of three venues, including the Nordic Center Ski Jumping Venue, the Nordic Center Cross-Country Skiing Venue and the Biathlon Center, are integrations of international proposals led by Tsinghua University. The function of the venues and the technical indexes of the tracks will strictly follow the requirements of the International Sports Federations.

The ski venue's sites A and B in the Genting Ski Park are renovations based on existing facilities, and the track is designed by Ecosign, a Canadian company experienced with designing Winter Olympics venues.

In the ice town where the Olympic Village lies, the buildings are designed to maintain the architecture features in north China's mountainous areas, which have small capacity and are based on the region's natural landscape.
