The trade volume of cross-border e-commerce in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region hit 1.22 million U.S. dollars in July-September, the region's customs said Saturday.
A total of 176,000 items have been exported from Xinjiang since the region started cross-border e-commerce in July, according to Urumqi customs.
Although the region is a late starter in cross-border business, it has great development potential, said Guo Ying, a staff member with Urumqi customs.
Goods such as cosmetics, electronics and batteries were among those exported to Russia and Central Asia.
