The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's air quality improved last year, according to a climate monitoring bulletin released on Monday.

The bulletin showed that the Pearl River Delta region had 38.1 hazy days on average in 2018, 1.5 days fewer than the previous year.

Hazy days monitored at the Hong Kong Observatory and the Hong Kong International Airport were three and 13 last year, reducing three and 11 days year-on-year respectively. Eighteen hazy days were recorded for Macao, one day fewer than 2017.

The bulletin was compiled by the Guangdong Meteorological Service, the Hong Kong Observatory and the Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau.

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is one of the most livable and tourism-friendly bay areas in the world, said the Guangdong Meteorological Service, noting that the joint efforts will help the public to scientifically respond to frequently-occurring typhoons, rainstorms and thunderstorms in the area.
