A bridge constructed by the China State Construction Engineering Corporation officially opened here on Thursday, which will alleviate congestion on Abidjan roads as tens of thousands of football fans from around the world are coming to the country for the 34th Africa Cup of Nations.

Prime Minister of Cote d'Ivoire Robert Beugre Mambe inspected the bridge on Wednesday, congratulated the project's completion and warmly greeted the construction workers from China and the West African country. He highlighted the bridge project's significance as a crucial infrastructure initiative, serving as a vital transportation facility to strengthen connectivity in the capital city of Abidjan.

"This improved Abidjan's transportation conditions and promoted the development of the city's economy and the national economy of Cote d'Ivoire," the prime minister said.

The bridge, located in western Abidjan with a total length of about 7 km, opened two days ahead of the 34th Africa Cup of Nations, which will run through Feb. 11.
