Xu Lin meets German ambassador to China

Xu Lin met with Clemens von Goetze, German ambassador to China, in Beijing on Tuesday.

Xu Lin, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and minister of the State Council Information Office of China (SCIO), met with a delegation led by Clemens von Goetze, German ambassador to China, in Beijing on Tuesday.

Xu welcomed the ambassador to China SCIO and congratulated him on assuming his new post in China. Xu said that China and Germany enjoy sound relations, close high-level exchanges, growing political mutual trust, and fruitful cooperation in various fields. He said he hopes that the media dialogues between China and Germany will serve as a platform to strengthen bilateral media exchanges and cooperation, tell vivid stories of the two countries, and promote mutual understanding between people from the two countries.

The German ambassador said that news media plays an important role in the relations between the two countries, and helps enhance the understanding between the two peoples. He said he hopes that the two sides can promote bilateral media dialogues, and strengthen exchanges and cooperation to address challenges brought by new media.
