Jiang Jianguo, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and minister of the State Council Information Office of China, met with Yutaka Asahina, president of Japan's Mainichi Newspapers, in Beijing on Dec.4, 2017.

During the meeting, Jiang gave a briefing on the guiding principles of the 19th CPC National Congress and spoke on the history of China-Japan relations. He pointed out that the two sides should act in the fundamental interests of people of the two countries, stay committed to peace, friendship and cooperation, and push for the improvement of bilateral relations.

The two sides also exchanged views on further strengthening cooperation, and pledged to make more contribution to the friendly relations between the two countries and their mutual benefit and win-win cooperation.
