China Book Foreign Consultants Seminar was held in Beijing on August 21.

Themed "International Publishing and promotion of Chinese language," the seminar was hosted by the State Council Information Office of China and the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of China.

Cui Yuying, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the vice minister of the State Council Information Office, said that there is an increasing demand for studying Chinese language in the world and the spread of Chinese language provides new opportunities in the future.

She called on publishing agencies to seize the opportunity of the "Belt and Road" Initiative, actively plan and produce Chinese publishing products of high quality.

She added that they should enhance the level of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, hold exchange activities, such as the "Chinese Bridge" and "Foreigners Sign Chinese Song" competitions, as well as develop international cooperation in the field of publishing.

Wu Shangzhi, vice-minister of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the People's Republic of China, said that the "Belt and Road" Initiative has provided a broader arena for the international publishing and promotion of Chinese language.

He said, "We should drive the integration and innovation for Chinese language publishing and make full use of digital technologies to have a better effect in publicity."

In addition, scholars, Confucius Institute Headquarters, Egypt House of Wisdom Press and Oxford University Press exchanged their perspectives on international publications on language and language publications in a digital age.
