"2017 Experience China in Egypt," an event themed on introducing China’s northwest Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, opened in Cairo on July 6.

Cui Yuying, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and vice minister of the State Council Information Office (SCIO), attended the event and made an opening remark.

Cui said China and Egypt are two time-honored civilizations that have made tremendous contribution to human development as well as social progress.

The two countries’ friendly relations can be traced back to the era of the ancient Silk Road, and have become a model of China-Arab and China-Africa relations in the modern era, she said.

Cui hoped the “Experience China” event series, which will be held in Cairo and Alexandria, could further consolidate the two countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership and boost people-to-people exchanges.

Co-organized by the State Council Information Office of China, the autonomous regional government of Xinjiang and the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, the event will showcase the region's music and dance, traditional costumes, cultural heritage, as well as tourist attractions.
