A China-Europe seminar on human rights was held on July 2 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, which has attracted over 50 experts in the field to discuss topics centering on the rights of the disabled.

Speaking on the opening ceremony of the event, Cui Yuying, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and vice minister of the State Council Information Office, said that China not only initiated the idea of building “a community of shared future for mankind” but is also steadfastly pushing its implementation.

The Communist Party of China and the Chinese government attach much importance to protecting human rights and has been following a path in line with the country’s characteristics, she said.

Cui also underscored China’s commitment to putting people’s rights first, engaging in global governance of human rights protection, and making contributions to the development of human rights around the world.

She also briefed the seminar attendees China’s achievement in safeguarding the rights of the disabled and said she hoped that Chinese and European scholars could learn from each other and seek common development in the field.

The seminar was co-organized by the China Society for Human Rights Studies and VU Amsterdam.
