Guo Weimin

Guo Weimin (郭卫民) is the vice minister of the State Council Information Office of China (SCIO).

Guo was born in Shanghai in October 1958. He began work in 1976 and joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in October 1980. He graduated from Renmin University with a master's degree.

He worked in Shanghai and served the People's Liberation Army before working at the National People's Congress Foreign Affairs Committee from 1989 to 1996. He began work at the State Council Information Office since 1996, with a three-year stint in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from 1988 to 2001. He was the spokesperson of the State Council Information Office from 2012 to 2015.

He has been the vice minister of the State Council Information Office of China since June 2015.
