A symphony concert marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China was held at the Shangyin Opera House in Shanghai last Thursday.

The concert opened with flash video Sing a Song for the Party followed by a wide repertoire of music and performances such as piano concerto Stroll along the Bund, song My Motherland, and recital I am Chinese.

Part of the performers are private company employees and freelance artists, members of new social classes that emerged after reform and opening-up. They were selected from around the nation to eulogize the robust development of the country over the past century, as well as to express their love and wishes for the Party and the motherland. Faculty and students of Shanghai Conservatory of Music also participated in the concert.
