President Xi Jinping has called on east China's Jiangxi Province to write its chapter in Chinese modernization by tapping into its strengths and improving its weak points.
Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks during his inspection of the province from Oct. 10 to 13.
Xi stressed the importance of emancipating the mind and making pioneering efforts.
Jiangxi should firmly adhere to its positioning in creating a new development pattern, tap into its characteristics and strengths, and focus on a high-quality, green and low-carbon development, Xi said.
He also called on the province to consolidate its foundations while developing new strengths, strive to lead both the promotion of high-quality development of old revolutionary base areas and the rise of the central region, and make sound efforts in advancing the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
During the inspection tour, Xi visited the cities of Jiujiang, Jingdezhen and Shangrao. He inspected the shoreline of the Yangtze River, local enterprises, a historical and cultural block and a village.

On Tuesday afternoon, Xi visited a section of the Yangtze River National Cultural Park located in the urban area of Jiujiang. He walked in the rain to inspect the landscape along the river embankment and asked about the water level, water quality and the work including flood control.
After listening to briefings by local officials on the progress of relevant work, Xi called the Yangtze River "the bond" of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and underscored that all work to protect the river must be undertaken from a perspective of a community of life featuring harmony between humanity and nature and the sustainable development of the Chinese nation.

Xi then inspected Sinopec Jiujiang Company, where he learned about the enterprise's efforts to build green and intelligent factories as well as promote energy conservation, and reduce pollution and carbon emissions.
He stressed continuous efforts to push forward digital and intelligent transformation to build a world-leading refining and chemical enterprise that is eco-friendly and intelligent.
The petrochemical industry is an important economic pillar, Xi told the company's staff, calling on them to make new contributions to China's energy security while advancing the high-quality development of the industry.
On Wednesday morning, Xi visited the city of Jingdezhen, known as the "porcelain capital." At a historical and cultural block, Xi learned about the craftsmanship and procedures of porcelain making, and the efforts to maintain the inheritance, innovation and foreign exchanges of ceramic culture.
Noting that fine traditional Chinese culture has survived uninterrupted since ancient times, Xi stressed that porcelain is both a treasure and calling card of the Chinese nation.
He underscored that talent from various sectors should aid design and R&D innovation across the porcelain industry to further amplify the name of the "millennium porcelain capital."

Then Xi went to AVIC Changhe Aircraft Industry (Group) Corporation Ltd., where he inspected a helicopter general assembly workshop and a pilot station.
Noting that aviation equipment forms an important part of China's manufacturing development, Xi asked the corporation to pursue an innovation-driven approach, invest more energy in independent R&D in key and core technologies, strive to establish an advanced manufacturing system and develop itself into a first-class global helicopter company.
On Wednesday afternoon, Xi visited a village in Wuyuan County in Shangrao City, which is situated in the center area of the national wetland park for the source of the Raohe River. There, he learned about the park and its wildlife conservation efforts.
Xi also talked with teachers and students of a fine arts college painting at the village square, encouraging them to study hard to hone their craft.
Learning that remarkable progress has been achieved in advancing local signature tourism, the tea industry and rural revitalization, Xi voiced delight, and noted that the beautiful natural environment is in itself high-quality natural endowments for advancing rural revitalization.
The key to rural revitalization lies in strong primary-level Party organizations, he said, calling on such organizations to play a leading role in increasing rural incomes and ensure the solid implementation of the policies formulated by the Party for the benefit of people.
Chinese modernization encompasses the modernization of both urban areas and the agricultural sector and rural areas, Xi told villagers.
He expressed the hope that they would effectively protect nature while integrating the traditional image of the village with modern elements to make the village more beautiful.
During his inspection, Xi was also briefed about the work of the CPC provincial committee and the provincial government of Jiangxi, and he lauded the achievements that the province has made in various fields.
He called on Jiangxi to actively prepare for the next generation of industries and build a modern industrial system with the region's distinct features and strengths.
Jiangxi should nurture a number of high-tech industries, foster nationally influential industrial clusters and develop the digital economy while firmly following the path of ecological protection and green development and pursuing all-round green transition, he said.
Xi stressed that Jiangxi should become a pacesetter of reform and opening-up in the inland areas, develop the port economy, promote the construction of key cities along the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and nurture regional logistics hubs and commercial centers.
He asked Jiangxi to coordinate with and serve the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta and the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and get deeply involved in joint efforts to advance the Belt and Road Initiative.
Xi urged Jiangxi to deepen reform in key areas, improve the business environment, and expand institutional opening up with regard to rules, regulations, management, and standards.
Priority should be given to the development of the agricultural sector and rural areas, which should be modernized at a faster pace, he said, calling for firmly maintaining the bottom line of food security and further industrializing the agricultural sector.
The fruits of reform and development must be shared by the people in old revolutionary base areas, which is a bottom-line task in realizing common prosperity for all, Xi said, stressing efforts to strengthen the implementation of the employment-first policy, and improve public services and the social security system.
Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee, accompanied Xi on the inspection tour.
