The 2020 China New Media Conference opened Thursday in Changsha, central China's Hunan province. Experts and employees from relevant government departments, news companies, organizations, institutions, and journalism schools gathered to discuss further development of media convergence.

As the annual festival of the new media industry, this year's conference aims to provide a platform for professionals to share experience and understanding, promote the high-quality development of deeper media convergence, and intensify mainstream consensus.

The "China New Media Research Report 2020," "China New Media Yearbook 2019," and "Research on the National Index System of Development of the Video, Cultural and Creative Industry" were released at the conference. Forums were held on such topics as innovative and high-quality content, social responsibilities of new platforms, and so on. Ten high-quality cases of China's new media on combating COVID-19 and 10 on poverty-reduction were also announced at the conference.

A themed event was held at the Malanshan (Changsha) Video, Cultural and Creative Industrial Park to introduce its representative products, showing new development paths and results of media convergence and the cultural industry.

Officials from the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, the All-China Journalists Association, and the Publicity Department of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee addressed the opening ceremony. People in charge from People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, and China Media Group also spoke at the event.
