As China's first big data comprehensive pilot zone, Guizhou has achieved rapid development in the big data industry in the past 10 years since it implemented the national big data strategy, said Luo Qiang, vice governor of Guizhou province, at a press conference Friday.

A total of 47 key data centers are currently under construction or in operation in Guizhou, including those set up by leading enterprises such as Huawei, Tencent, and the three major telecom providers of China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom, according to Luo.

The province has also established a number of signature digital infrastructure projects, the vice governor said. Last year, China Mobile built the world's first computing power channel with a 400G optical transmission network in the provincial capital of Guiyang, with data transmission from Guiyang to Guangzhou and Shenzhen taking only 10 milliseconds, and Guizhou to Hangzhou taking 16 milliseconds.

With the goal of building a national digital economy development and innovation zone, Guizhou is focusing on three key areas of computing power, empowerment, and industry development, and aiming to advance emerging industries like artificial intelligence.

In terms of computing power, Guizhou will expand intelligent computing center clusters and create a globally competitive intelligent computing base. As for empowerment, the province will leverage Huawei Cloud's Pangu model to promote the intelligent transformation of industries, create new tourism scenarios, and advance rural digital construction, thus empowering various industries with digital capabilities. In terms of industries, Guizhou aims to develop three 100-billion-yuan-level industrial clusters, namely data centers, intelligent terminals, and data applications.

"Guizhou has the foundation, advantages, and confidence to build a nationwide computing power support base. We will create the best development environment to expand the digital economy together with friends from home and abroad," Luo said.
