China's National Health Commission (NHC) handled 1,470 suggestions and proposals from the national legislature and the national political advisory body in 2023, a health official said Thursday.
In response to these suggestions and proposals, the NHC introduced 49 policies and measures, pushing for improvements in issues such as birth policies and community-level healthcare services, Li Bin, deputy head of the NHC, told a press conference.
Efforts have been made to ensure the suggestions and proposals are timely completed, adopted and transformed into policies, Li noted, adding that last year, the NHC invited more than 40 deputies to the National People's Congress and members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference to conduct research and discussions on major and complex issues related to healthcare.
Li said about 10 percent of the suggestions and proposals concern community-level healthcare, which called for measures to guarantee investment, cultivate medical and healthcare personnel, and improve service capacities, among others.
The NHC will continue translating the suggestions and proposals into concrete measures to address key challenges, thus better protecting the health and safety of the people, Li said.
