China has achieved significant progress in independent innovation in the past decade, evidenced by the steady rise of the country's ranking in the Global Innovation Index released by the World Intellectual Property Organization, said the commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration at a press conference Monday. China was ranked 11th in the index worldwide and first among middle-income economies in 2022.
