Eleven workers in the railway system were named model workers on Friday, promoting their hardworking spirit and encouraging more than 2 million railway workers to learn from them, to showcase the high-quality development of the sector.
The rewards were given by the China State Railway Group and their stories were told by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.
The model workers are from different departments of the railway system but they all work hard and make contributions from their posts.
Ma Rutie is one of the model workers. As the head of the railway station in Manzhouli of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, the border city of China and Russia, he has assisted the smooth operation of the China-Europe freight trains passing the station.
Lyv Pan, another model worker, worked as the conductor of a bullet train for the Beijing-Zhangjiakou High-speed Railway. She led the team to serve commuting services for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
Model worker Xia Jian, a senior engineer of China Railway Design Corp, led the design of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway in Indonesia, China's first overseas railway project to fully adopt Chinese technologies and standards.
The model workers shared their stories with the public at a gala on Friday.
China's railway network has seen rapid development in the past 15 years, especially the development of the high-speed railway system, which relies on the contributions of railway workers.
China has a railway network extending to 155,000 kilometers, of which 42,000 km are high-speed railways. The high-speed railway network accounts for more than two-thirds of high-speed railways in the world.
