China's total expenditure on research and development (R&D) crossed the 3-trillion-yuan mark to reach nearly 3.09 trillion yuan (US$456 billion) in 2022, up 10.4% year on year, the National Bureau of Statistics announced recently. It accounted for 2.55% of the country's GDP last year, up 0.12 percentage point from the previous year.
