Li made the remarks when meeting with members of the international consultive committee on advanced manufacturing in Beijing. Representatives from BMW, Sanofi, Schneider Electric, Airbus and Roll-Royce attended the meeting.

Li said, under the backdrop of complex international landscape, the Chinese economy has maintained overall stability in the first three quarters this year, with the main macroeconomic indicators remaining in the reasonable range.

Although faced with difficulties, China has the resolute confidence to ensure the fulfillment of major targets for economic and social development, said Li, adding that the continuous and healthy development of the Chinese economy will bring more opportunities to companies worldwide to invest and carry out cooperation in the country.

Li said manufacturing is the basic industry for industrialization and modernization, and as a developing country, China is in the process of accelerating industrialization, which means China is not only an inseparable part of the global manufacturing chain but also a huge consumer market for manufacturing products.

Li said the Chinese government has taken the promotion of the development of advanced manufacturing as a strategic move, and by applying tax and fee cuts, relaxing market access, utilizing fair and impartial regulations and strengthening intellectual property rights protection, China is working to create a favorable environment for advanced manufacturing, and promote manufacturing to forge ahead and achieve medium to high-quality development.

Participants from the committee said that manufacturing is the lifeline of a country's economic development and manufacturing enterprises can play an important role in technical progress, which has a profound impact on industrial development.

They expressed their welcome to the Chinese government's policies on taxes and fees cutting, reform to streamline administration and delegate power to lower levels as well as measures to strengthen intellectual property rights protection, saying these efforts are beneficial to manufacturing development.

They also expressed the expectation to enhance cooperation with China to promote the industrial transformation and upgrade and common development.
