The State Council Information Office sent a Xinjiang-related cultural exchange delegation to vist Afghanistan on May 7, to further enhance China's communication and cooperation in the cultural field with its neighboring country during the three-day visit.
Afghan Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah met the delegation in the Afghan capital Kabul on May 7. He said the Afghan government valued its relationship with China in various aspects. As China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region borders Afghanistan, the visit of the delegation this time will help the Afghan people better learn about the changes and development in Xinjiang, and lay a better foundation for the cooperation and communication between Afghanistan and China.
Xing Guangcheng, director of the Institute of Chinese Borderland Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the head of the delegation, said that the cooperation between China and Afghanistan keeps deepening over the years and the bilateral ties has a sound development momentum. He added that as Xinjiang is located in the core area of the Silk Road Economic Belt and is a key region between China and Afghanistan, a better knowledge of the autonomous region will not only promote the construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt, but also facilitate the cooperation between China and Afghanistan.
