'Dhaka China Day' celebration gets underway in Bangladeshi capital

The second "Dhaka China Day" event has been celebrated at North South University, showcasing the prosperous development of cultural exchanges between China and Bangladesh.

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen, Bangladeshi Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhter, North South University Vice-Chancellor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, and over 20,000 university teachers and students attended the event.

The event presented a spectacular exchange feast for people from all sectors of China and Bangladesh through diverse formats such as cultural expos, academic forums, youth forums, art performances, and film screenings.

In her speech, Farida highlighted the importance of Bangladesh-China relations and said cooperation with China is essential for economic transformation.

She said China has been a reliable trading partner of Bangladesh for a long time and that this relationship is getting stronger day by day.

It is hoped that both sides will take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries as an opportunity to further deepen exchanges and cooperation in fields such as economy, trade, education, culture, and agriculture, she added.

For his part, Yao said the "Dhaka China Day" event showcased the flourishing cultural exchanges between China and Bangladesh, building a bridge for young students and people from all sectors in Bangladesh to better understand a real, multidimensional, and comprehensive China.

It is hoped that both sides will continue to deepen practical cooperation across various fields, strengthen the exchange of governance experience, and elevate bilateral relations to a higher level, said Yao.

The event was hosted on Thursday by the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh and North South University.
