Pakistan's Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar said on Tuesday that the country has been progressing with the projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Addressing a gathering of students in Pakistan's eastern city of Lahore, the prime minister said: "CPEC is a game changer project under the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which helped Pakistan get on the track of development."

The prime minister added that Pakistan was facing some troubles a decade ago, but the launch of the BRI brought several projects of infrastructure developments and others, which streamlined several different sectors for progress.

Talking about plans to enhance cooperation under the CPEC, the prime minister said the agricultural sector is the backbone of Pakistan's economy, and the country would seek cooperation under CPEC for modern technology and research to increase production.

Kakar said that his government is making every possible effort for economic stability and development of the country, hoping that the young generation would play a vital role by holding high-quality education.

Launched in 2013, CPEC, a flagship project of the BRI, is a corridor linking Pakistan's southwest Gwadar port with Kashgar in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, highlighting energy, transport, and industrial cooperation.
