In his speech, Guo said Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the 25th APEC Informal Leaders' Meeting and pay a state visit to Vietnam in a few days — Xi's first visit to a foreign country since the end of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Guo said the visit will carry great significance in enhancing the neighborly and friendly relations between China and Vietnam, build a community of shared future with the neighbors, and deepen the Asia-Pacific partnership. It will lay a more solid foundation for the China-Vietnam relations in the future as well.

In this context, the publishing of the "China-ASEAN Report: 2017 APEC Vietnam Special Issue" is critically significant as it will serve as a new window for the Vietnamese to closely observe and experience China, Guo said.

Published ahead of the APEC Informal Leaders' Meeting in Da Nang, the "China-ASEAN Report: 2017 APEC Vietnam Special Issue" focuses on the APEC meetings and covers the 19th CPC National Congress and the sixth meeting of the 12th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The special issue recounts the major achievements of the two countries in economic and trade cooperation, the construction of the Belt and Road initiative, and the development of the Two Corridors, One Economic Circle plan.
