Jiang Jianguo meets delegation from Beijing-Tokyo Forum

Jiang Jianguo met with a delegation headed by Yasushi Akashi, chairman of the Japanese Executive Committee of the Beijing-Tokyo Forum, on Sept. 19 in Beijing.

Jiang Jianguo, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and minister of the State Council Information Office, met with Yasushi Akashi, chairman of the Japanese Executive Committee of the Beijing-Tokyo Forum, chairman of the International House of Japan and former U.N. administrator, and Yasushi Kudo, president of the Genron NPO and the Japanese co-organizer of the Beijing-Tokyo Forum, on Sept. 19 in Beijing.

Jiang extended his warm welcome to Akashi and Kudo. The two sides held discussions on various topics including the 45th anniversary of the normalization of China-Japan diplomatic relations and the 13th Beijing-Tokyo Forum.

In the spirit of learning from history and looking forward into the future, Jiang suggested that both sides should take the important opportunity of the upcoming anniversary to boost the friendly exchanges between China and Japan in the areas of media, think tanks and culture, and to facilitate the improvement of the bilateral relationship and the stable development of the Sino-Japanese relationship through various ways, including the Beijing-Tokyo Forum. Jiang also said that the Japanese media is welcome to cover the 19th CPC Congress, and the State Council Information Office will provide more assistance to the Japanese media.

Wang Gangyi, vice president of the China International Publishing Group, Zhang Ye, director general of the International Liaison Bureau under the State Council Information Office, and Chen Yao, deputy director general of the International Liaison Bureau under the State Council Information Office, also attended the meeting.
