"Taste the Culture Week of Great Xi'an," an international activity through the Belt and Road Initative was launched in Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province, on August 27, 2017.

The opening ceremony has included Alhassan Bukhalifa, Algeria's ambassador to China, Fariz Mehdawi, the Palestine representative in China, Mokhtar N'Baba, Mauritania's political counselor, Tu Longde, the director of Hebrew department of China Radio International, Lu Guangwen, deputy secretary of Xi'an's Beilin District and Liu Chunlin, committee member of Beilin District.

"Xi'an is where the ancient Silk Road starts and has close contact with Arab countries," said Alhassan Bukhalifa, "This activity promotes the mutual understanding between the people of our two countries."

"In Xi'an, we perceive the common humanistic spirit and have a feeling of home, without any sense of foreignness whether in diet or culture," said Fariz Mehdawi.

"Beilin District has been flourishing since ancient times. Luomashi, Yandian Street, Shuyuanmen, Fuxue Alley, all these street names have a history of thousands years, revealing the prosperous past of Beilin and telling the inheritance of history and culture," said Lu Guangwen.

CRI journalists from home and abroad have conducted interviews in tourist attractions in Beilin District, which includes the famed Small Wild Goose Pagoda and the Bell Tower, to tell Beilin stories.
