The seminar had the theme of "Openness, Inclusiveness, Mutual Benefit and Win-Win: Working Together to Build a Community of Shared Future for Mankind." The two-day event was hosted by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and co-organized by the Chinese Academy of Governance and China International Publishing Group (CIPG).
Participants in the event included representatives of BRICS member countries — Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa — as well as of other countries such as Tanzania, Ethiopia and Mexico.
Following the opening ceremony, the seminar proceeded with three parallel meetings which respectively centered on "enhancing reform for common development," "increasing communication for cultural prosperity," and "strengthening collaboration for global governance."
