Speaking at the opening ceremony of the event, Jiang Jianguo, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and minister of the State Council Information Office, underscored the role of spokespersons and the importance of their exchanges in a globalized world.

"The press spokesperson system is an important part of national governance as the spokespersons are responsible for delivering major national affairs, events and policies to the media and the public in order to address social concerns and increase government credibility," he said.

"As economic globalization continues to expand, timely press releasing and updating domestic information to the foreign audience is essential to open and mutually-beneficial cooperation."

In terms of press releases, he advised spokespersons and related government agencies to always put people first, remain open, inclusive and confident in their working style, be accurate and transparent in information sharing, and explore innovative solutions in releasing forms. He also hoped that spokespersons from China and CEE countries could engage in open and honest discussions in order to share their experience and learn lessons from each other.

The dialogue is sponsored by the State Council Information Office.
