China cuts 300 billion yuan in electricity access costs over 5 years

Nearly five years after China issued a guideline in 2020 to improve electricity access, the country has cut related costs by over 300 billion yuan (US$42 billion), said Song Hongkun, deputy administrator of the National Energy Administration, on Thursday.

China's total installed renewable energy capacity up 58%

China's total installed renewable energy capacity reached 2.02 billion kilowatts by the end of April, up 58% year on year. The combined installed capacity of wind and solar power hit 1.53 billion kilowatts, surpassing that of thermal power, according to official data released Thursday.
