Shanghai to increase spending on R&D

By 2025, Shanghai's R&D spending will account for around 4.5% of the city's GDP, as the city aims to become a science and technology innovation center with global influence. Around 12% of the spending will be directed to basic research, according to a press conference on Wednesday.
