The 2023 Media Cooperation Forum on Belt and Road was held in Beijing on Thursday with the theme of strengthening media cooperation for a brighter shared future.
Li Shulei, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended the forum and delivered a speech.
Representatives from more than 110 media organizations of over 70 countries and regions, as well as Chinese officials, scholars and business representatives, were present at the event, which was hosted by the People's Daily. It included a ceremony for the First Silk Road Global News Awards and panel discussions on regional cooperation for building the Belt and Road.
The participants said President Xi Jinping announced eight major steps that China will take to support high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, receiving a positive response from attendees at the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. They said that all parties now have a deeper understanding of jointly building the Belt and Road.
The participants agreed that media organizations from all countries should work together to carry forward the Silk Road spirit, and uphold the principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits. They agreed on the need to tell good stories of promoting common development and mutual benefit, of deepening regional cooperation and improving global governance, and of promoting mutual learning among civilizations and people-to-people ties.
