Full text of government work report to be released via Xinhua

A government work report delivered by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on behalf of the State Council on March 5 at the second session of the 13th National People's Congress will be released in full text via Xinhua on Saturday.

A government work report delivered by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on behalf of the State Council on March 5 at the second session of the 13th National People's Congress will be released in full text via Xinhua on Saturday.

Legislators approved a resolution on the government work report on Friday at the closing meeting of the annual national legislative session.

The work report is made up of three parts "2018 in Review," "Economic and Social Development in 2019: Overall Requirements and Policy Directions" and "Tasks for 2019."

According to the report, China has set its GDP growth target at 6-6.5 percent for 2019.

The report also lists other major projected targets set for this year's economic and social development:

-- Over 11 million new urban jobs, a surveyed urban unemployment rate of around 5.5 percent, and a registered urban unemployment rate under 4.5 percent

-- CPI increase of around 3 percent

-- A basic equilibrium in the balance of international payments, and stable, better-structured imports and exports

-- A macro leverage ratio that is basically stable, and effective prevention and control of financial and fiscal risks

-- A reduction of over 10 million in the rural poor population

-- Personal income growth that is basically in step with economic growth

-- Further improvement in the ecological environment

-- A drop of around 3 percent in energy consumption per unit of GDP

-- Continued reduction in the discharge of major pollutants.
