On Sept. 26, the State Council Information Office (SCIO) held a Mid-Autumn Festival reception for foreign journalists in China and spokespersons from departments of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, the State Council, and other central institutions. The event brought them together at the Temple of Heaven, a UNESCO World Heritage Site along Beijing's storied Central Axis.

Tian Qing, a researcher of the China Central Institute for Culture and History and the Chinese National Academy of Arts (CNAA) and honorary director of the CNAA's Research Institute of Music, delivered a lecture on the significance of Chinese ritual and ceremonial music in traditional culture. Ma Wenxiang, administrator of the Temple of Heaven, provided insights into the ritual and musical culture embodied in Zhonghe Shaoyue, an integrated art form of national intangible cultural heritage.

The participants toured the Temple of Heaven, enjoyed a performance of Zhonghe Shaoyue, and engaged in traditional handicraft making, traditional instrument playing, and lively discussions.
