Jiang Jianguo, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, addressed the opening ceremony of the Sino-French Dialogue of Civilization in Paris, France, on Monday.

Jiang said in his speech that the Chinese and French people as well as people of other countries appreciate the charm and draw on strengths of different civilizations as they are getting to know more about them on the Silk Road, and this proves that mankind can share the fruits of various civilizations through exchange and mutual learning.

He added that it is the common aspiration of both countries to carry out dialogues on civilization, and that it is a cause that requires unremitting efforts of both sides.

The event is hosted by China's State Council Information Office, and organized by China International Publishing Group and France's Bridge Tank.
