More than 400 attendees from universities, think-tanks and media organizations attended the biennial conference.

With China at the center of the world stage, the world expects to learn more about China, so communication and media workers must find ways of telling stories so that China's voice is better heard, Guo Weimin, deputy director of the State Council Information Office (SCIO), said at the opening ceremony.

Six sub-forums and two round-table meetings are scheduled at the two-day event, with topics ranging from spreading Chinese culture to innovation in the discourse system of international communication.

Sponsored by the SCIO, the event was organized by the China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration and Center of International Communication Studies.
