The book containing a selection of Chinese President Xi Jinping's speeches and interviews on governance gives the world community an opportunity to learn about China, an Azerbaijani expert said Tuesday.
Rafig Abbasov, head of the Department of Asia-Pacific Studies of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences in Baku, said the newly published second volume of the book "Xi Jinping: The Governance of China" would help learn about developing socialism with Chinese characteristics.
The second volume, published in both Chinese and English on Nov. 7, is a collection of 99 speeches, conversations, instructions and letters, as well as 29 photos of the Chinese leader, between Aug. 18, 2014 and Sept. 29, 2017, according to China's Foreign Languages Press (FLP).
It is expected to help the international community better understand the path, concept and model of China's development, the FLP said
Abbasov said the book shows the goals and priorities of the leadership of China in all important areas of China's development, as well as the Chinese mechanism for achieving these goals. It indicates Xi's political philosophy and the key strategic guidelines for China's domestic and foreign policy development.
The book also puts forward the concept of strengthening cooperation with all countries, the academic added.
He said the book will also allow Azerbaijani readers to have a better understanding of the Belt and Road Initiative aiming to revive the ancient Silk Road trade routes.
Proposed by Xi in 2013, the Belt and Road Initiative aims to promote trade, financial integration, infrastructure inter-connectivity and people-to-people exchanges along and beyond the ancient Silk Road trade routes linking Asia with Europe and Africa. The modern version comprises an overland Silk Road Economic Belt and a 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road.
