Thorium-based Molten Salt Reactor R&D
In 2011, the Chinese Academy of Sciences launched a strategic research project on a thorium-based molten salt reactor nuclear energy system to explore advanced nuclear fission solutions for the future. The implementation of this project has thus far led to the completion of conceptual designs of a 10 MWt solid-fueled molten salt experimental reactor and a 2 MWt liquid-fueled molten salt experimental reactor; the start of the engineering design of a 10 MWt solid-fueled molten salt experimental reactor; and the development of proof-of-principle prototypes of some key devices and engineering prototypes of other individual pieces of equipment. In January 2020, the construction of the 2 MWt liquid-fueled thorium-based molten salt experimental reactor started.
钍基熔盐堆研发
2011年,中国科学院开展了“未来先进核裂变能——钍基熔盐堆核能系统”战略性先导科技专项的工程研究。在相关研究中,完成了10MW固态燃料熔盐实验堆和2MW液态燃料熔盐实验堆的概念设计,开始了10MW固态燃料熔盐实验堆的工程设计;研制了部分关键设备的原理样机以及个别设备的工程样机。2020年1月,2MWt液态燃料钍基熔盐实验堆建设全面启动。
