The State Council Information Office (SCIO) hosted a group of journalists from foreign media outlets on Friday for a tour on China's cutting-edge robotics industry, offering them a firsthand look at the country's rapid development in humanoid and applied robotics.

During the trip, the journalists visited the Beijing Innovation Center of Humanoid Robotics and the Beijing World of Robots, both located in the robot industrial park in Beijing E-Town, also known as the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area.

"Beijing E-Town serves as a hub for scientific and technological innovation and a key cluster for the robotics industry in Beijing," said Xing Huina, deputy director general of the Press Bureau of the SCIO and spokesperson of the SCIO.

At the Beijing Innovation Center of Humanoid Robotics, journalists engaged in an interactive session with the Tiangong Ultra humanoid robot. They raced alongside the robot and observed its advanced mobility during a running demonstration.

In April, Tiangong Ultra made history by winning the world's first humanoid robot half-marathon in Beijing, completing the 21.0975-kilometer route in two hours, 40 minutes, and 42 seconds.

The robot's average speed now has reached 10 km/h, with a peak of 12 km/h, according to Wei Jiaxing, director of brand and communications at the Beijing Innovation Center of Humanoid Robotics. He also demonstrated the robot's ability to navigate diverse terrains, including slopes, grassy patches, and gravel paths.

Some journalists noted it was their first time running alongside a robot, describing the experience as both thrilling and amazing.

Kwon Lan, a Beijing-based news correspondent for Seoul Broadcasting System, said that she had watched the humanoid robot marathon on television and wanted to see it in person. "Witnessing it firsthand, I can feel how significantly China's technology has advanced," she said.

Mahdi Faraj Hamid, a reporter for Rudaw, a media broadcaster in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, was equally impressed. He said that this trip allowed him to see different categories of robots and directly feel the rapid development of China's robotics industry.

The journalists also visited the Beijing World of Robots, where they explored five themed scenarios showcasing robot applications in industrial manufacturing, medical care, bionic animals, remote operations, and daily life.

"China is one of the fastest-developing countries in the world," said Kwon Lan. When she first came to China as a correspondent two years ago, she was most curious about the country’s space and robotics industries. "The progress I’ve seen in just two years is astonishing," she added.
