By the end of April this year, loans for sci-tech innovation and technological upgrading reached 1.5 trillion yuan (US$221.67 billion), including 218.8 billion yuan in sci-tech innovation loans. A total of 21,000 technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises secured their first bank loans, said an official from the People's Bank of China at a Wednesday press conference.
