In 2025, China's primary-level healthcare institutions handled 5.56 billion patient visits, accounting for 52.6% of all medical visits to the country's medical facilities. The continued rise in both volume and share indicates that the tiered medical service system is becoming increasingly effective, said Zheng Zhe, vice minister of the National Health Commission, at a policy briefing on Monday.
