One-stop government services promoted in China

As part of the ongoing efforts to streamline services for enterprises and the public, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) has introduced a range of innovative measures aimed at promoting one-stop government services and made significant strides, the authority announced at a press conference Friday.

Wang Guowei, deputy director general of the Department of Comprehensive Planning at the SAMR, said the administration has worked on three fields in particular this year – business information update, business deregistration, and restaurant opening. 

The SAMR has carried out reforms regarding institutional innovation, business process and digital innovation, he said. 

In terms of institutional innovation, the SAMR has either substantially reduced or eliminated many documentation requirements across various procedures. This streamlining allows applicants to complete their tasks with fewer steps, often requiring only a single visit, Wang said.

In terms of business process, Wang explained that tasks involving multiple departments are now managed through coordinated and interconnected actions. 

This collaborative approach has greatly simplified the process for businesses, cutting down on both complexity and time, Wang added.

By harnessing the power of digital technology, the SAMR has created an online government service platform featuring integration of different regions and departments, enabling citizens to manage their affairs through a single and user-friendly interface, Wang said.

The effects of these measures are evident, Wang said. According to the statistics released at the press conference, the number of steps required to update business information has been reduced from seven to one, the required documentation has been cut by 13 items, and the approval time has been shortened by six working days.

The process for business deregistration has been streamlined from 10 steps to four, with the fastest completion time for ordinary deregistration now reduced from 70 days to 46 days.

For restaurant openings, the processing time has been cut from 37 working days to 15, and the number of required documents has been reduced by 14.

Going forward, the SAMR will further promote the one-stop government services to offer more convenience to enterprises and citizens, Wang said.
