Online platforms in Beijing have sufficient supplies and prices are stable, said Guo Wenjie, vice head of the Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau, at a press conference held on Monday.

The Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau has stepped up support for residents and businesses amid the latest round of COVID-19 controls. Guo said that they had directed major e-commerce companies to stock up with three to five times the usual level of supplies. Shopping malls and supermarkets, which are key to residents' livelihoods, will be allowed to reopen after one day of required closure and won’t be closed for longer than three days. Meanwhile, Beijing has also established a mechanism to facilitate the transportation of livelihood-related products. 

The city has seen an increase of 10-20% in daily online orders as more residents observe home quarantine measures. 

Starting in April, the Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau established a "white list" of couriers to ensure smooth supply. Couriers on the "white list" enjoy fewer restrictions in movement and are allowed to deliver to closed-off residential complexes. They must receive daily nucleic acid tests and wear N95 masks while working.

Guo said the courier "white list" had been expanded from 5,000 to 40,000 people, playing an important role in ensuring the supply of daily necessities in the city.

The Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau pledged to closely monitor the supply of daily necessities in the city and deliver vegetables and other daily necessities to communities in need, said the official.
